Independent Birmingham

As Founder of M Seven PR I know just how much hard-work and effort goes into making a success of your business.   For this reason I support the wide variety of  fantastic independent outlets in the city as much as I can. Here are just a few of my many favourites.

I really love The Red Lion in  Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.  A fabulous and friendly bar.    If you visit make sure you order a glass of cider, they give you the option of crushed ice on the top – pure heaven.    And if you fancy eating they provide a great choice of dishes on the menu.   I can highly recommend their Yorkshire Pudding with Beef – great comfort food and not expensive.  And, on a sunny day, you can take advantage of their beer garden at the back – just perfect.

A really great addition to the city is Quarter House Coffee tucked away on Bristol St just down from New St station.  I work at home a lot so if I have a meeting in town I like to pop in for their tasty coffee which has been roasted on site so it’s really fresh.   The atmosphere is friendly and bright and ideal for catching up with my emails and social media.

Warehouse Cafe

The Warehouse Cafe

I’m not a vegetarian but I absolutely adore the food in the award-winning The Warehouse Café in Digbeth.  Really friendly staff who use fresh and seasonal produce when they can.   I took my vegan friend there and we both ordered the Thai Green Curry which featured spiced carrots, pak choi, water chestnuts and potato served with lime jasmine rice.   It maybe tucked away but this café is so popular with both meat eaters and vegetarians alike that booking is essential.

I’m an absolute vinyl junkie and have been since I was very young.  In fact I’ve still got all my original 7” records from when I was a teenager.  So a visit to Swordfish Records in Dalton St is a must for me.  They’ve been going since 1979 and are very much a part of Birmingham’s DNA.    Trouble is once I’m in there it’s hard for anyone to get me out!

You can find out more about the city’s independents on the Birmingham Independent website and whilst you’re there I’d recommend signing up to their membership card for discounts and special offers.
